6.1 FREE BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE.
Passenger may carry some Baggage free of charge subject to our conditions of carriage and limitations.
This information can be obtained from Air Djibouti booking offices or from our authorized agents
6.2 EXCESS BAGGAGE.
Passenger will be required to pay a charge for carriage of Baggage in excess of the free Baggage
allowance. These rates are available at the Air Djibouti booking office or at the check-in counters. For
onward carriage on other carrier, passenger should obtain the information from those carriers.
6.3 PROHIBITED ITEMS AND ITEMS UNACCEPTABLE AS BAGGAGE
6.3.1 Passenger must not include in passenger Baggage:
6.3.1.1 Items, which are likely to endanger the aircraft, persons, or property on board the aircraft. These
are specified in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Technical Instructions for the Safe
Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air and by the International Air Transport Association (IATA)
Dangerous Goods Regulations;
6.3.1.2 Items, which are prohibited to carry by the applicable laws, regulations or orders of any state to
be flown from, over or to;
6.3.2 Firearms and ammunition other than for hunting and sporting purposes are prohibited from
carriage as Baggage. Firearms and ammunition for hunting and sporting purposes may be accepted
without liability, as Checked Baggage with prior approval from airport security and the carriers
mentioned in the ticket. Firearms must be unloaded with the safety catch on, and suitably packed.
Carriage of ammunition is subject to ICAO and IATA regulations as referred in 6.3.1.1 above;
6.3.3 Air Djibouti at its sole discretion, can deny carriage of any item into the cabin, which is forbidden
by law, or on a belief that its presence in the cabin will negatively affect safety or security of the aircraft,
the crew, the other passengers or the property
6.3.4 Passengers are forbidden to carry swords, knives, blades, archery bows, arrows, scissors or similar
items into the aircraft cabin.
6.3.5 Air Djibouti may either tell passenger to check-in items referred to in clauses 6.3.3 and 6.3.4 as
Checked Baggage or refuse to carry them altogether.
6.3.6 Passenger must not include in Checked Baggage money, jewelry, precious metals, precious stones,
gold, silverware, computers, laptops, personal electronic devices (including but not limited to mobile
communication devices, gaming devices, tablets and iPads or equivalent), negotiable papers, securities
or other valuables, business documents, passports, travel documents and other identification
documents or samples.
6.3.7 If, despite being prohibited, any items referred to in 6.3.2, 6.3.3, 6.3.4 and 6.3.6 are included in
passenger Baggage, Air Djibouti shall not take any liability for any loss or damage to such items.
6.4 RIGHT TO REFUSE CARRIAGE.
6.4.1 Air Djibouti at its sole discretion can refuse to carry as Baggage the items described in 6.3, and Air
Djibouti may refuse further carriage of any such items upon discovery
6.4.2 Air Djibouti may refuse to carry as Baggage any item reasonably considered by us to be unsuitable
for carriage because of its nature, weight, size and shape, content, character, or for safety or operational
reasons, or the comfort of other passengers, or because they are fragile or perishable.
6.4.3 Air Djibouti may refuse to accept Baggage for carriage unless it is in our reasonable opinion
properly and securely packed in suitable containers
6.4.4 Air Djibouti may refuse to carry Baggage if in excess to the free baggage allowance or unfit for the
cabin or for which the excess baggage charges are not paid.
6.5 RIGHT OF SEARCH
For reasons of safety and security Air Djibouti may request that passenger permit a search and scan of
passenger person and a search, scan or x-ray of passenger Baggage. If passenger are not available,
passenger Baggage may be searched in passenger absence for the purpose of determining whether
passenger are in possession of or whether passenger Baggage contains any item described in 6.3 or any
firearms, ammunition or weapons, which have not been presented to us. If passenger are unwilling to
comply with such request Air Djibouti may refuse to carry passenger and his/her Baggage. In the event a
search or scan causes Damage to passenger, or an x-ray or scan causes damage to passenger Baggage,
Air Djibouti shall not be liable for such damage
6.6 CHECKED BAGGAGE
6.6.1 All checked Baggage must have passenger name or other personal identification affixed to it
6.6.2 Checked Baggage will be carried on the same aircraft as passenger, unless Air Djibouti decide for
safety, security or operational reasons to carry it on an alternative flight. The passenger upon arrival at
the destination airport must collect all such checked baggage.
6.6.3 If passenger have Baggage in excess of passenger free Baggage Allowance, Air Djibouti will
endeavor to carry it subject to payment by passenger of the applicable extra charge. Air Djibouti will
endeavor to carry passenger excess Checked Baggage on the same flight as passenger if there is suitable
space available on the aircraft but, if Air Djibouti decide for safety, security or operational reasons to
carry passenger excess Checked Baggage on a subsequent flight, Air Djibouti will notify passenger. In
these circumstances, passenger must make own arrangements to collect the Checked Baggage from the
airport at the point of destination.
6.6.4 Air Djibouti do not permit to receive or carry the Baggage by person who is not the owner of that
baggage.
6.7 UNCHECKED BAGGAGE
6.7.1 Air Djibouti allows upto maximum weight of 7kgs for Unchecked Baggage commonly known as
cabin baggage or hand carry, which passenger carry on to the aircraft. Such cabin baggage must be of a
size that can easily fit under the seat in front of passenger or in an overhead storage compartment in the
cabin of the aircraft. If passenger Baggage cannot be stored in this manner, or is of excessive in weight
or is considered unsafe for any reason, it must be carried as Checked Baggage where excess baggage
charges may apply if by including it, the total weight goes above the allowance of already checked in
baggage
6.7.2 Objects not suitable for carriage in the cargo compartment (such as delicate musical instruments),
and which do not meet the requirements in 6.7.1 above, will only be accepted for carriage in the cabin
of the aircraft if passenger have given us notice in advance and permission has been granted by us.
Passenger may be required to pay a separate charge for this service.
6.8 COLLECTION AND DELIVERY OF CHECKED BAGGAGE
6.8.1 Subject to Article 6.6.2, passenger are required to collect passenger Checked Baggage as soon as it
is made available at passenger destination or Transit Point. Should passenger not collect it within a
reasonable time, Air Djibouti may charge passenger a storage fee. Should passenger Checked Baggage
not be claimed within three (3) months of the time it is made available, Air Djibouti may dispose it off
without any liability
6.8.2 Only the owner of the Baggage Check with Baggage Identification Tag is entitled to receiving of the
Checked Baggage. Air Djibouti accept no responsibility for checking the identity or authority of the
bearer of the Baggage and Baggage Identification Tag or for checking that such person has any right to
collection.
6.8.3 If a person claiming Checked Baggage is unable to produce the Baggage Check or Baggage
Identification Tag, Air Djibouti will deliver the Baggage to such person only on condition that he or she
establishes to our satisfaction his or her right to the Baggage.
6.9 ANIMALS
Air Djibouti reserve the right, at our absolute discretion, to refuse to carry any animals (which, for the
avoidance of doubt and without limitation, shall include but not limited to birds, pets). If Air Djibouti
agree to carry any animal, they will be carried subject to the following conditions:
6.9.1 Passenger must ensure that the animal is properly crated with necessary supplies of food and
water and carried in a container complying with any applicable legal requirements and accompanied by
valid health and vaccination certificates, entry permits, and other documents required by countries of
entry or transit, failing which, it will not be accepted for carriage. Such carriage is subject to additional
conditions
6.9.2 If accepted as Baggage, the animal, together with its container and food, shall not be included in
passenger free Baggage allowance, but shall constitute excess baggage, for which passenger will be
obliged to pay the applicable charges.
6.9.3 Guide dogs accompanying Passengers with disabilities will be carried free of charge in addition to
the normal free baggage allowance provided carrying criteria specified in 6.9.1 is duly met.
6.9.4 Where carriage is not subject to the liability rules of the Convention, Air Djibouti is not responsible
for injury to or loss, sickness or death of an animal which Air Djibouti have agreed to carry unless Air
Djibouti gross negligence is established
6.9.5 Air Djibouti will have no liability in respect of any such animal not having all the necessary exit,
entry, health and other documents with respect to the animal's entry into or passage through any
country, state or territory. The person carrying the animal is liable to reimburse Air Djibouti any fines,
costs, losses or liabilities reasonably imposed or incurred by us as a result
6.10 ITEMS REMOVED BY AIRPORT SECURITY PERSONNEL
Air Djibouti will not be responsible for, or have any liability in respect of, articles removed from
passenger Baggage by airport security, customs or other authorities.
